In September 2021, we were delighted to welcome Lydia Nijboer to our teaching team!
That same month, Lydia launched for us a brand new 50Plus Broadway Tap/Jazz Program. Then in December, she and her husband Gordon stepped onto our stage as Aunt Sarah and Uncle Charles in our annual production of The Nutcracker. Lydia has been dancing since the age of 5. She has studied ballet with the Academie des Grands Ballet Canadien de Montreal and has danced with Les Ballets-Jazz de Montreal. Her first passion has always been ballet however she can’t stop her feet moving to tap, jazz, clogging along with many more dance styles. For the past 13 years, Lydia was a dancer, performer, teacher, and choreographer with The Burlington Footnotes, a dance troupe for the 55 plus. Even though Lydia had a full-time job, that did not stop her from dancing – EVER! She graduated from l’Université du Quebec in Cellular and Molecular Biology and she holds a bachelor’s degree in classical piano. To say Lydia is versatile is an understatement!
